GENDER NEUTRAL TOILETS

Gerald Thornton was born into a coal mining family in the Forest of Dean in 1934, one of six children. Despite showing artistic talents from an early age, circumstances meant that he left school at the age of 15 to undertake a carpentry apprenticeship. Without any formal artistic training Gerald continued to draw and paint in his spare time, teaching himself and learning from others.

Since retirement he has devoted more time to painting. In 2018 Gerald published his first book ‘Better Late Than Never’, followed up in 2024 by ‘Living My Dream’. This is an exhibition of oil paintings depicting the landscapes and characters of his most beloved places - the Forest of Dean, the River Severn, and some others a little further afield.

Gerald will be present at the exhibition as often as possible and if you are lucky you may find him painting in the Gallery. Paintings and prints will be available to purchase, together with copies of Gerald's latest book.

This event is suitable for all ages. There is also a cafe located within The George at ground level and the Gallery is located on the first floor via a staircase. Unfortunately, there are no lifts.

THIS IS A FREE EVENT.  NO PRE-BOOKING NEEDED, JUST TURN UP!
